Dota 2 The International – Tournament Structure
The Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) is a series of tournaments that take place before the Dota 2 The International. The top 12 teams in the DPC ranking order receive direct invitations to compete in the International. In total, 18 teams take part, with the other 6 having won playoff brackets in the Commonwealth of Independent States, China, North Amer🎐ica, South America, Europe🦩, and Southeast Asia.
꧟ The 18 qualifying teams are divided into two groups of 9 teams each, where they play in a round-robin format. All matches are played on a best-of-two Maps basis. The t🦩op four teams from each group qualify for the Upper Bracket of the Main Event, while the 5th to 8th-placed teams from each group qualify for the Lower Bracket.
The bottom-placed team in each group is eliminated. The Main Event consists of 16 teams that play in a Double-Elimination format – 8 teams play in the Upper Bracket of the Main Event, and the other 8 play in the Lower Bracket of the Main Event.
The first round of the Lower Bracket is 🅰played on a best-of-one Map basis. Apart from the Grand Finals, which are played on a best-of-five Maps basis, all other matches are played on a best-of-three Maps baꦑsis.

The International is a Dota 2 tournament produced and hosted by Valve, the developer of Dota 2. Launched in 2011, The International 2021 is the 10th edition of the tournament, since the postponement of the 2020 edition. From 2011 to 2016, 16 teams took part, but this has since been expanded to 18 teams from 2017.
There have been many winners over the years, including Invictus Gaming, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, and OG, with Natus Vincere having won the inaugural tournament in 2011. OG is the most successful team in the history of The International, with 2 titles to its ꦆname (2018 and 2019).
